These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the website located at www.barcodefinder.info and the Barcode Finder API (collectively, the "Service"), operated by Barcode Finder ("we," "us," or "our"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use the Service.

2. Service Description

Barcode Finder provides the following services:

  • Barcode Search Engine: A tool that allows users to look up product information by entering UPC, EAN, or GTIN barcode numbers.
  • Barcode Generator: A free tool for creating barcodes in various formats including EAN-13, UPC-A, Code 128, QR codes, and more.
  • Developer API: A programmatic interface that enables developers to integrate barcode lookup and generation functionality into their own applications.

We aggregate product information from multiple public databases and third-party sources to provide comprehensive barcode lookup results.

3. Acceptable Use

You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. Specifically, you agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any illegal or unauthorized purpose.
  • Attempt to scrape, crawl, or otherwise extract data from the website through automated means without prior written authorization.
  • Use bots, spiders, or other automated tools to access the website without an authorized API key.
  • Overload, disrupt, or interfere with the Service or its underlying servers and infrastructure.
  • Redistribute, resell, or republish data obtained from the Service without our prior written permission.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any portion of the Service, other users' accounts, or any systems or networks connected to the Service.
  • Use the Service to transmit any malicious code, viruses, or other harmful material.

4. API Terms

Access to the Barcode Finder API is subject to the following additional terms:

  • Registration Required: API access requires a registered account and a valid API key. You must complete the registration process and agree to these Terms before using the API.
  • Rate Limits: API usage is subject to rate limits based on your subscription plan tier. Exceeding your allotted rate limits may result in temporary throttling or suspension of access.
  • Free Tier: The free tier provides a limited number of API requests per day. Additional capacity is available through paid subscription plans.
  • API Key Security: You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your API key. Do not share, publish, or expose your API key in public repositories or client-side code. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your API key.
  • Revocation: We reserve the right to revoke or suspend API access at any time if we determine, in our sole discretion, that your usage violates these Terms, constitutes abuse, or negatively impacts the Service for other users.

5. Account Terms

If you create an account with the Service, you agree to the following:

  • You must provide accurate, current, and complete information during the registration process and keep your account information up to date.
  • You are solely responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account.
  • You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account or any other breach of security.

Product data returned by the Service is sourced from publicly available databases and third-party providers. Barcode Finder does not claim ownership of product information supplied by third parties. The compilation and presentation of such data, however, is proprietary to Barcode Finder.

Barcodes generated using our Barcode Generator tool are provided for your use. You retain ownership of the data you input and may use the generated barcode images for your own lawful purposes.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not warrant that:

  • The Service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free.
  • Product data, barcode information, or search results will be accurate, complete, or current.
  • Any errors or defects in the Service will be corrected.

You acknowledge that product information is sourced from third-party databases and may contain inaccuracies, outdated information, or incomplete data. You should independently verify any critical product information before relying on it for business or purchasing decisions.

8. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, BARCODE FINDER AND ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, AND AFFILIATES SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, USE, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR ACCESS TO OR USE OF (OR INABILITY TO ACCESS OR USE) THE SERVICE, WHETHER BASED ON WARRANTY, CONTRACT, TORT (INCLUDING NEGLIGENCE), STATUTE, OR ANY OTHER LEGAL THEORY, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

Our total liability for any claims arising out of or relating to the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid to us, if any, during the twelve (12) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.

9. Modifications to Service

If we make changes to our pricing or subscription plans, we will provide at least thirty (30) days' advance notice before such changes take effect. Continued use of the Service after a pricing change constitutes your acceptance of the new pricing terms.

We may also update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the revised Terms on the Service and updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Service following the posting of revised Terms constitutes your acceptance of the changes.

10. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your account and access to the Service immediately, without prior notice or liability, if you breach any provision of these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the Service will immediately cease.

You may delete your account at any time by contacting us or using the account management features available through the Service. Upon account deletion, we will remove your account information in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

Provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination shall survive, including but not limited to ownership provisions, warranty disclaimers, indemnification, and limitations of liability.

11. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from or related to these Terms or the Service shall be resolved in the competent courts of the applicable jurisdiction.

If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect. Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms shall not be deemed a waiver of such right or provision.
