The Strength That Comes From the Most High

<p>A correct understanding of the subject of our title requires first of all that it be known that the strength referred to here, as coming from God, always manifests itself in our weakness. The apostle Paul had learned this lesson through harsh experiences, and the greatest of them after he returned from his rapture to the third heaven, and was afflicted by a messenger of Satan who slapped him and whom he called a "thorn in the flesh". When he insistently prayed to the Lord to remove him, he had the answer that His power was made perfect in weakness, and therefore, the apostle should simply resort to His grace, which would be sufficient to strengthen and sustain him. This apparent paradox, which is in fact one of the great truths regarding the power of the gospel, will be duly analyzed in the chapters of this book, so that we will understand that there is no conflict of ideas in this case.</p>
